Gather Up the Fragments- Create the Blessings

By John Fisher There are many miracles noted in the Bible. Did you realize that Jesus gave us directions on how to perform our own miracles of healing, success, obedience and sharing? We make so much of Bible interpretation and how mysterious and complicated it is. If we accept the fact that the Bible is the God inspired written word, we must also accept the fact that it is we that make understanding it so difficult- not God. We read around things, we look for hidden meanings, we add things that are not there and subtract things that make us uncomfortable or do not fit our conception of God and his instructions. The Bible is not a technical science manual, not designed to be modified or designed so that only a highly educated scholar can interpret what is in it. It was written for us! It was meant as an inspirational, instructional guide to Successful Living, Joy, Peace, Love and comfort. Of course it mentions consequences, both good and bad for the choices we make in life. I am not condoning fanaticism of any kind when I make the statement To understand the Bible you cant just read it and /or study it you must live it! Let me share with you one instance of where we seek too little of what Jesus discloses in his life and teachings. In the Bible Jesus is teaching to a mass of people on a mountain (miracle of feeding the 5000) there are many more than five thousand people there because only the men are noted. Many of us stop looking at what is taught when the people are fed. We say What an amazing thing! We stop seeking and reading and learning to soon. After everyone has eaten besides his disciples, Jesus says Gather up the fragments so nothing shall be lost! He had just given everyone present and everyone that will read these words in the future the key to successful living, both in the physical life and the spiritual. Gather up the fragments is what he said. The miracle that happened that day wasnt in just the feeding of so many at that time, but the method of how we can be our own caretakers for our own lives and for others throughout the ages. Now what do we do with this information? Are we going to dissect it, read things into it that are not there or modify it to fit our own personal comfort zones? Please do with it what was intended. Live it as it is stated. Notice Jesus doesnt specifically tell us what to do with these fragments after we gather them up. He just tells his followers to perform the task. What we do with them is left up to other teachings and our hearts. He doesnt tell us to horde them all, obviously if he tells us to gather them there is a use for them. Let me also share this, when these things became fragments they became burdens because they were leftover things that we did not take the time to deal with. They are blessings. And as with blessings if they are not used and shared they wither and die and instead of being blessings they become burdens. If your life lacks blessings it is because they have become fragments of the whole. So let us gather them up and use them in some way that creates blessings either for us or others. Child Obesity

By Jeff Foster More frequently all the time there are mounting stories and segments on the news concerning child obesity and the risks that follow. Certainly with media news ratings influence the intensity of the content and some even use scare tactics to insure the audience share, however that being said there are some basic facts concerning child obesity. Convenience foods, fast foods, junk foods, and the fact that they are readily available all combine to make it more and more likely every day that the individual will consume more calories than necessary and that the obesity rate will continue to rise. In developed countries today, there is little likely hood of starvation issues due to the proliferation and the lower costs of available foods. Also, there is absolutely no question that society today leads a much more sedentary lifestyle than ever before… especially the children. In the information age today, with the internet, computer, and television options, a child’s physical activity level has dropped dramatically over previous generations. There are still only 24 hours in a day and with technology related devices now garnering more and more of a child’s time and attention, chances are this time is being robbed from the physical activity bank. Comparatively speaking, children as a whole today are heavier than they have ever been. And it’s no wonder considering the steep rise in the consumption of foods that are high in sugars, fats, and calories… while at the same time consuming less fiber, fruits, and vegetables…. this is a one way path to child obesity. Because children are engaged in their growth cycle, obesity is measured using different criteria than that of adults. A child’s metabolic rate differ from child to child and most kids at some point during their life go through rapid growth spurts. Because of this the BMI (Body Mass Index)alone is not necessarily an accurate measurement and is generally combined with the age and gender to create a more accurate diagnosis. For instance, an adult with a BMI of 30 or greater would be considered to be borderline obese; whereas CDC (Centers for Disease Control) would plot the child as obese at the 95th percentile. Although the two may be roughly equivalent, with children it becomes necessary to refer to other charts and matrix in order to get a more precise breakdown of the numbers. Percentage of one’s body fat is another vital measurement in the obesity equation even though matrix differs between girls and boys. As an example a body fat number of 25% of the total body weight with young males would put them in the obese category while the same for young females would be 32% of body fat. The difference in the numbers is simply because females naturally carry a higher percent of body fat throughout their lives than males do. A healthy adult male checks in at about 15% while the same healthy female would be looking at about 27%. Just as with adults, for children struggling with obesity the path to reducing excess body fat is a two pronged approach of exercise and a healthier diet. In fact, you can roll these two tactics into one simple approach… lifestyle change. In fact, the sooner the better because changing less established poor health habits are much easier to change than those that have become firmly entrenched over the years. To avoid obesity in your child, the absolute best answer is to start them on the road of healthy eating habits and physical activity right from the beginning because maintaining a path is a whole lot easier than changing one. Easy To Make Cloth Gift Bags

By Catherine Pulsifer I can remember my mother saving wrapping paper to reuse. However, I can also remember that when she went to reuse the paper, it was wrinkled and torn. Recently a friend of ours gave us a gift that she put in a cloth gift bag that she had made. The cloth gift bag is great; we can recycle it over and over again. If it gets dirty or wrinkled, we can wash it, and it is like new again. After talking with my friend, I decided to make one of these cloth bags. It was so simple, and easy to make. You can use any material that you have (we found cotton material works great). You can use scrap material, or recycled material. Depending on the size of bag that you need, take your material and cut it in one long strip. Fold the material over once, and that will be the size of your bag. If you want a smaller bag, then just reduce the amount of material. With the material folded, sew a seam about 1 inch where the top of the bag will be. This seam will be where you will use yarn, ribbon, or string to put in a tie to close the bag. Then, turning the material inside out, iron the seams (about inch) on the sides. Then sew up the seams on both sides to just below where your bag will tie. Using a safety pin, pin your yarn, ribbon or string, and pull it through the top of the bag. The bag is now complete. Those people that we have given the bags to think they are just great. It is a wonderful way to recycle and reuse. Plus, if you use old material rather than buying wrapping paper, you will end up saving money! These cloth gift bags are so simple to make, yet so practical to use! The Basics of Healthy Hair

By Katie Weaver Is your hair dry and brittle? Is it greasy and flat? Puffy, stringy, frizzy, the list goes on and on. There are so many things that can go wrong with our hair. So here are the basics thing to keep your hair healthy and in beautiful condition. Scrub-a-dub-dub! Everyone knows that you have to shampoo your hair, otherwise you have tons of gross buildup and it just won’t cooperate. Conditioner is just as important otherwise you won’t even be able to comb your hair, much less style it. It’s very important to pick a quality shampoo and conditioner fit for your hair type. Say you have color-treated hair; you get color-protective shampoo and conditioner. Makes sense right? Right. Now, its pretty much just lather, rinse, (only repeat for VERY dirty oily hair) condition, and rinse again. But there are some helpful tricks to it. When you shampoo, dont be too rough with your hair or you’ll damage the cuticle. Always be sure the shampoo is completely rinsed. When conditioning, focus on the ends of your hair as they are most prone to breakage and therefore tangles. The water should be cold when you do the last rinse out with your conditioner. It helps seal the cuticle (basically, hair strand), making it so your hair appears shinier. Once your hair is clean and fresh, you’ll probably want to use a shine serum or detangling solution on it. Gently pat your hair dry as much as possible with your towel and squeeze a small amount of product into your hand. I like Biosilk Silk Therapy Treatment. Massage the product into your hair gently, again focusing mostly on the ends. Avoid the roots, as they can look greasy with shine serum on them. Now it’s time for blow-drying. If you have curly hair, you’ll want to use a diffuser so you dont frizz your curls. Otherwise, you shouldn’t need any attachments. Pointing the nozzle down, blow-dry your hair from five inches away. Make sure not to hold it in one spot, or it’ll get fried. Once hair is semi-dry, lift hair in sections with your fingers and blow-dry a section at a time. This will keep your hair from being flat when it’s done being blow-dried. Flipped-out or curled under? Spiraled, waved? Now you have to decide what you want to day with you hair unless you like it just blow-dried. Check out iVillage’s Virtual Hairstylist below for some great ideas. They even tell you how to do it! Is that not the coolest thing ever?!? How to Select a Lawyer

By Ira C. Miller Lawyers offer specialized knowledge and experience to help you through some of the biggest decisions in your life. Given the importance, you should have complete confidence, both professionally and personally, in your choice. Whether your problem is business or personal, seek a personal fit. Initially, identify the type of legal problem you face and then find lawyers with experience and expertise in that field. Lawyers specialize in their practice, much like physicians. Practice areas generally fall within Business & Employment, Family & Individual, or Accident & Injury. Business & Employment practices usually involve business formation, sale & purchase; taxation & financing; contracts & agreements; real estate & land use; government regulation & compliance; or labor & employment relations. Family & Individual practices may handle wills, trusts & estate planning; divorce & custody; domestic partnerships & pre/post-nuptial agreements; real estate sale & purchase; contractor disputes; bankruptcy; insurance disputes; or criminal & municipal. Accident & Injury lawyers represent clients for personal injury & accidents; mass tort & class actions; medical malpractice; or workers compensation & disability. Once you have found some competent lawyers or firms in their practice areas, choose the one who makes you feel confident and comfortable. However skilled or experienced the lawyer, it does you no good if you are intimidated or uncomfortable asking questions or discussing your problems. Try these steps to help facilitate your search: 1. Before researching the lawyers, research your own legal needs and decision-making style; consider your personal and business situations 2. Ask for referrals from people whose opinions you respect and have worked with attorneys, especially on the kinds of legal matters you are likely to encounter 3. Go online to search law firms and visit their websites to check their practice specialties, credentials, affiliations, articles, clients, results, and personality 4. Interview a few of your top prospects, preferably at their offices, so you can see their environment, experience their style, and meet some of their team 5. Ask each attorney for 2 or 3 client references with situations similar to yours. You can decide to hire the lawyer at your first meeting or take time to think things over. In either case, you may want to ask yourself the following questions: Are you confident this lawyer has the experience and skill to handle your case? Will you be comfortable working closely with this lawyer? Do you understand this lawyers explanation of what your case involves? If your answer to one or more of these questions is no, then you should probably consult someone else. If all your answers are yes, then you may have found the right lawyer for you. Cold Frame Greenhouse - Maximize The Natural Warmth Of The Sun

By Matthew Martins A cold greenhouse is not warmed by a heating device. The environment is warmer than the outside - this is due to the heat of the sun’s rays being trapped inside the covering material - be it glass or plastic - during the warm season, and heat accumulated in the soil being released back into the greenhouse during the fall. In summer, cool air enters the greenhouse through side ventilators near the base of the wall, keeping a steady stream of fresh air flowing around the plants. The roof might contain larger ventilators to let out air heated by the sun. During the hot season it’s quite common to keep all ventilators and maybe also the doors open at all times, day and night. In spring and fall, if the day promises to be sunny, they may be opened in the morning and closed in the evening. However, on hot days there is a danger of the plants being damaged by the fierceness of the sun, and ventilation doesn’t provide sufficient protection. To counteract this, the glass can be shaded by an electrostatic shading, which also offers protection against rain. This shading can be painted on at the onset of warm weather, and easily wiped off when the climate turns cooler again. An electric fan placed on the floor of the greenhouse, or attached to an end wall, will also aid cooling during very hot spells, ensuring good circulation of cool air to keep your plants happy. Wooden slat staging along the sides of the greenhouse might support a selection of flowering plants in pots - standing these in trays of wet sand, fed by a cistern attached to the wall, should ensure a constant supply of water. Or, along one side, there might be an open border, the soil dug over and fortified with leaf-mould or peat. Coarse sand might be added to heavy clay soil. This area would be suitable for growing tomatoes, or maybe a grape vine. A hose fed from a cistern would keep the soil well watered. Outside - why not grow late-flowering chrysanthemums in pots? These can be brought back inside the greenhouse in September when the tomatoes are ready - and will flower beautifully in October and November to brighten up the approach of winter. Natural Solutions for Hepatitis B & C

By Farah Khan Hepatitis B and C are becoming increasingly common infectious diseases in the United States. These diseases are spread through the blood and body fluids. People at greatest risk of contracting these diseases are those involved in the medical field, intravenous drug users, those who received blood transfusions before there was screening for these diseases, and people involved in unprotected sex. The jury is still out, but getting tattoos may also be a risk factor. The drug of choice for the treatment of these strains of chronic hepatitis is interferon. Interferon has many side effects, and it can be quite an ordeal to go through six to eighteen months of treatment with this drug. For certain strains of hepatitis C, the outcomes for interferon are not so good. Relapses are common. Chinese medicine can be useful for managing the side effects of interferon. Some people also choose to use alternative medicine as their stand-alone treatment. Chinese medicine may be beneficial for improving liver function and returning liver enzymes to normal, but it is not always as beneficial for reducing the amount of virus present in the body. Many essential oils are antiviral such as eucalyptus, lemon, oregano, and thyme, but since they are processed by the liver they must be utilized in much smaller dosages than usual. Ravensara essential oil has been used as a powerful antiviral agent and may work well for liver infections. Anything that can be used to support the function of the liver may help a great deal with hepatitis. Milk thistle is a commonly used herb. Capillaris, white peony, and mint are commonly used Chinese herbs that have been shown to be beneficial to the liver. The Chinese herb, isatis, has been used in China as an antiviral agent. Research in India and the Phillipines has demonstrated that virgin coconut oil in its raw unrefined state has antiviral effects against the AIDS virus. The research demonstrates that a constituent of coconut oil, monolaurin, has strong antiviral properties. These countries are considering the potential uses of coconut oil as an inexpensive and readily available treatment for AIDS in their countries. Bitter melon is a commonly eaten Asian vegetable that also may have antiviral properties. Colloidal silver may be beneficial when prepared correctly and taken in high enough quantities. Olive leaf extract may also be beneficial. Astragalus, schizandra, and licorice are other Chinese herbs that may improve the functioning of the liver. Bupleurum root is very beneficial for hepatitis and most liver problems, but it is contraindicated for people on interferon treatment because the drug and herb interact negatively together. Protect Your Assets and Your Financial Future

By Kathryn Marion Its been said that, in this litigious society we live in, its better to be rich and guilty than poor and innocent. Justice, and access to the legal system, seem to be reserved only for the wealthy. So what are the little people supposed to do? What about us average Joes? We have legal concerns, too, and because were not among the wealthy, one lawsuit could wipe us out financially. Can we protect our relatively meager assets the way the rich do and still afford to eat? Actually, there are a number of things the average, middle-class American can do to protect what theyve worked so hard for. Because our homes are usually our largest assets, well start with that. If you have your home mortgaged to the hilt, youve actually protected it in one way. Yet, if youre among those who feel most secure by having a paid-for home, youre more vulnerable than you think. Sounds counter to logic, doesnt it? Let me explain. If someone wanted to sue youover an auto accident, for instancethe first thing they or their attorney will do is try to find out if youre worth suing. How do they do that? The amount of information about you in the public records is enough for anyone to get a pretty fair idea of what youre worth financially. However, when they see that your home is mortgaged for very nearly what its worth (or in some cases even more than its worth), yours doesnt look like a very profitable lawsuit. On the other hand, if no mortgages are recorded in the public record on your home, all that equity looks mighty tempting to the attorney whos about to take the case. Its all at risk. To protect your paid-for, or nearly paid-for, home, probably the wisest thing to do to protect your equity is to mortgage your house so it looks as though you have no equity at all. Now, you dont have to put a traditional mortgage on your home and start making those big payments you were so happy to get rid of when you paid off the loan. Instead, apply for the largest home equity line of credit (HELOC) you can get. Equity lines of credit offer the lowest interest rates around these days, and some lenders will allow you to apply for 100% of your homes valueand the best part is that you dont pay if you dont use it. Your lender may require you to take out a certain amount of the available total when you go to closing, but there usually is no penalty for paying it all back immediately, while leaving the entire line of credit open for future use. How does this protect your home? Lines of credit such as this are recorded in the public records as mortgages (there is no notation indicating that its a line of credit so it appears the same as a first mortgage would), and the balance is simply the maximum available credit you have access to. The balance you have outstanding on the loan (how much of your equity youre actually using) is not recorded publicly. So, to the person searching the public records, it looks as though youre mortgaged to the hilt and have no equity to take in a lawsuit. Quite often, they wont pursue the lawsuit any further because no ambulance-chasing attorney will take a case on contingency that doesnt look like it will have a big payout. What a HELOC offers in addition to providing some level of protection for your home from lawsuits, is that you now have all that equity at your disposal with the simple act of writing a checkto pay for home improvements, for college, or to tide your family over through a period of unemployment or even disability. The next step toward protecting your finances is to consider adding an umbrella liability policy onto your homeowners insurance policy. Liability insurance is about the cheapest insurance you can buy, in some cases costing less than $20 a month for a million-dollar policy. This policy would kick in after the liability coverage on your home or cars has been exhausted in a judgment against you, allowing the lawsuit to be settled without you having to sell any assets. Ask the agent who handles your home and car insurance, and dont hesitate to shop around for a terrific package deal including your home, cars, and liability umbrella all with one company. So what if your local drycleaner ruins your favorite suit and wont pony up for the damage? Would you even consider calling an attorney to see if you have any recourse? Most people wont call an attorney, even when they need one, because the cost of the attorney is more than what the situation is costing them. And what if youre involved in, say, a relatively minor car accident, and you get sued by the other driver? Now what do you do? You definitely need an attorney now, but do you know who you would call? The wealthy seem to have entire law firms at their beck and call, but few Americans seem to be aware that there is help for themif theyre willing to give up pizza night once a month. A thirty-plus-year-old, New York Stock Exchange-traded company called PrePaid Legal Services, Inc. does just that. They offer virtually limitless access to legal advice and representation starting at an astoundingly-low monthly cost. And these are highly-rated law firms, not rinky-dink operations. See http://www.WeAllHaveRights.com for more information about whats available in your state. When thinking about protecting our families and our assets, having an attorney ready and willing to answer our questions is a powerful thing to have. And to be able to access that legal advice without having to first weigh the cost is simply empowering. So, there it is in a nutshell: you, your family, and your assets dont have to be vulnerable any more, and it wont cost an arm and a leg to protect them. You just need to know the strategies to use and the affordable resources available to you. I encourage you to take a look at your own situation and protect what you have right now. HTC S620 - Perfect Professional Phone

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Adam_Jaylin]Adam Jaylin HTC are famous for its business phones. Out of a wide range of business phones that have come from the house of HTC, our attention is caught by a specific model namely HTC S620, that has been around for quite a while and has aroused a lot of interest in the UK mobile market. Like a true business phone, HTC S620 is equipped with all the professional features that make this phone one of the very best in this category. HTC S620 is a Quad-Band GSM phone that has also been equipped with features as GPRS and EDGE which are responsible for the best connectivity. With its inbuilt Wi-Fi feature, you can connect to the Internet at your will. Also it comes with e-mail client that keeps you linked with the world. This handset comes with a QWERTY keyboard for the purpose of easy typing. With a TFT display in 65,000 colours, its wide screen gives you perfect web browsing experience. Though a user might miss 3G technology in this device, HTC S620 still works well without it. This Microsoft Windows 5.0 Smart phone enables the user to open and read all your MS office documents through this device. It thus becomes a perfect professional phone. There is also installed in this handset the feature of MSN instant messenger that allows quick chatting that you may use off and on. (it may or may not only be for business purposes) Though business phones have an aversion to cameras but it seems that the time and the demand has also mitigated the same. HTC S620 comes with a 1.3 Mega Pixels camera which is not so great in a phone but it is better than those which come without these feature. It also comes with a music player that would make you listen to your favourite music while you are checking your E-mails or browsing the web. [http://www.ukonlinemarket.co.uk/mobile/Phone_Deal.asp?Ph=HTC--S620]HTC S620 was placed against Blackberry 8700 at the time of its launch, however in dearth of a camera and music player, the latter looks meek in front of the former.
